If you lost all your makeup tools in a tragic, inconceivable incident, you’d only need one tool and $4-6 to get you by.

How you ask?

The incredible, the versatile, the oh-so-squishy makeup sponge.

Blend in your moisturizer, dab on your primer, blend in foundation, perfectly place blush, and even contour! All with the same miracle tool.

Here’s how:

Step 1, Prep: Apply moisturizer, and blend out any streaks with a flat edge of the sponge.

Step 2, Prime: Use the side of the sponge to press and roll primer onto your t-zone to prevent makeup breakdown, and provide long-lasting wear.

Step 3, Foundation: Dot foundation onto your face, then use the large, flat side of a sponge to pat and blend foundation seamlessly into the skin. Tip: focus most of the coverage on the center of your face for a more natural effect.

Step 4, Concealer: Apply concealer under your eyes, and on top of any blemishes. Use the pointed tip of the sponge to bounce over the concealer to blend.

Step 5, Set It: Set the under eye area and any other parts of the face with powder by dabbing the sponge into the powder, and pressing it into the skin. Press and dab until powder is blended and evenly dispersed.

Step 6, Blush + Highlight: This part is a little tricky at first, but gives a beautiful natural effect with practice. Tap the rounded side of the sponge in blush, and carefully pat and blend onto the apples of the cheeks for a diffused blushed look. Apply powder or cream highlight along the cheekbones using the same technique.

Step 7, Contour: For a night out on the town, get high, cut cheekbones by dabbing the sharp edge of the sponge into a cream contour product, and tracing along the hollows of your cheekbones. Pat with a clean side of the makeup sponge to blend.

For your eyes and lips, fingertips are the most underrated beauty tool! Apply and blend cream and powder shadows with light pressure, building up color in light layers.
